I remember my zady as being someone who loved to make people laugh. He was always ready with a broad smile, a funny retort (in English or Yiddish) or with a silly or dirty joke (in Yiddish) that I didn't understand. He always seemed to be amazed by his adopted country: one of his favorite retorts, even in his later years, was "You like this country?" This was echoed, as many will remember, in the large newspaper photo of FDR that had pride of place on a prominent wall in Yoine and Feige's kitchen.

And I remember him very well as a "Dapper Dan," a sharp dresser (neat, clean, and up to date) who always took pride in his appearance. Among the mementos I have of him is a pair of gray spats. Very cool.
