Nachmann Josef

Information we have from family members indicates that Nachmann Josef was born in 1850 and that Croyna was born in 1851. There is no official documentation to support that or the exact birthdate of their first born child, Khana. I've come across three possible dates: 1872, 1882, and 1878. We do know that the next child, Ralph, was born in 1884. Also, the ninth and last child of Khana and Nachmann Josef, Rose, was born in 1901, when Croyna (if she were born in 1851) would have been 50 years old.

It is also quite possible that the birth dates we have been given for Khana's children may not be exact. In any case, this is one thing that is not conclusive.

Khana

Email from Carol Wolff 1/1/2005

Information about Khana is mostly from oral history. Boguslavsky cousins who fled the USSR in the 1990's gave us this family tree diagram of her family. There appear to be some errors with dates, but it is otherwise accurate. Media:Khana_Boguslavsky.jpg

The cousins told us that her family was planning to flee from the Nazis and travel to Tashkent in Uzbekistan, but Khana refused to leave. The family fled and Khana Boguslavsky Gershovich remained in Dnepropetrovsk.

Life in Bobrinets

All the information we have about life in Bobrinets is from Pauline Brownstein who learned about it from her father, Yoine, and wrote it down in an account she called "AS TOLD TO ME BY MY FATHER, YONAH BEN NACHMAN JOSEF." The quotes indicate information taken directly from that account, written in 1988.
